| My opinion after being in the car business for over 10 years: A car of this age being sold at auction twice is not a big thing. Big dealers run probably 99% of "older" trade-ins through auction since they are discouraged by their franchise (Dodge, Ford, etc.) to sell them off the lot. Also, a Z is a specialty vehicle that most service departments at dealerships want no part of; therefore, the car would likely be wholesaled if traded. My particular Z was traded in at the local Toyota store by a girl who didn't want to pay what Nissan wanted to repair the leaking Power Steering Rack, PS Pump, Rear Main, etc. She elected to trade it in and get a new Camry so she wouldn't have to spend any more $$ on the Z. I bought it via auction from the Toyota store and did the repairs. Now she is running great! With that said, I would still have a Z-Mechanic inspect the vehicle (if you don't know much about the Z). Also, run it by a body shop and have them do a quick $50 inspection for previous frame, body, or flood damage for peace of mind. It will be money well spent if you're going to keep the Z long-term. Also, yes, RUN A CARFAX!! Even if the title is clean now, Carfax will almost definitely show if the car was ever wrecked, flooded, or had a previous salvage title. Good luck!
